Let me tell you about my story.
Susana Potter, MA, LMHC, R-DMT, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, a Registered Dance Movement Therapist and body-based psychotherapist with over 13 years of experience in the mental health field. Her passion is to support people to become BodyWise, or to be more aware of the information that is constantly being communicated between their mind and their body. Susana has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Dance, from Florida International University. She obtained a Master’s of Arts in Somatic Counseling with a specialization in Dance Movement Therapy from Naropa University.
“It is my perspective that often times mental health disorder is rooted in a lack of connection with the body. By creating a bridge between what we think, how we physically feel and how we experience the world, we can find harmony.”
Susana specializes in helping clients who struggle with eating disorders, body image, women’s empowerment issues, trauma and somatic symptom disorders. Susana is part of the therapist collective at Sunserve in an effort to serve the LGBTQI+ community with mental health needs. She offers workshops and speaking engagements in the community advocating for the benefits of Dance Movement Therapy in a variety of settings including: dance education settings, mental health institutions, holistic wellness settings, and more.
